Rol-Tec has acquired Axis Machine Co.,which means we can now offer in-house precision metal roll grinding in addition to our rubber and urethane roller services. We now have the capability to precision grind all of your metal, chrome, and tungsten carbide plasma rollers. Most importantly, we have the Axis Machine employees with decades of grinding experience to handle your toughest needs and project specifications.
Our precision roll grinding services are designed to restore and maintain roll accuracy for industrial equipment that depends on consistent contact, alignment, and surface condition. We perform roll grinding in-house, allowing us to address wear, surface damage, and dimensional issues without outsourcing or unnecessary delays. Our team works with metal, chrome, and tungsten carbide rolls used in demanding production environments. In addition to precision roll grinding services, we offer centerless grinding services, surface grinding services, and cylindrical grinding services to support a wide range of roll-related components and operating requirements.
When Precision Roll Grinding Is Required
Precision roll grinding is often required when rolls no longer perform to specification due to wear, surface deterioration, or dimensional inconsistency. Over time, rolls can develop runout, uneven diameters, or surface conditions that affect product quality and equipment performance. These issues can lead to tracking problems, vibration, material defects, and increased stress on surrounding components. Our precision roll grinding services are used to correct these conditions by restoring proper geometry and surface finish, helping equipment return to stable, predictable operation.
Grinding Services Available at Rol-Tec
We provide multiple grinding methods to support the rolls and related components used throughout industrial processing and manufacturing equipment. Our grinding capabilities are integrated with Rol-Tec’s roll covering and refurbishing services, allowing us to support both new and existing rolls through their full service life. By offering centerless grinding services, surface grinding services, and cylindrical grinding services in-house, we are able to match the grinding method to the function of the roll or component rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.
Roll Grinding Services
Our lineup of equipment ensures we can grind small, medium, and large rollers up to 60" outside diameter and 240" face length. We offer expert roll grinding with varying sizes, drums, spindles, and shafts. We have experience with new, rebuilt, and coated parts.
Cylindrical Grinding
We have a variety of outside diameter cylindrical machines, that handle straight bodies, journals, and tapers. We are proficient in grinding close tolerance journal and outside diameters along with complex concave and convex crown roller profiles.
Inside Diameter (ID) Grinding
We employ inside diameter grinding machines for straight bodies and tapers. Our inside diameter equipment can swing up to 20" outside diameter and depths to 12".
Surface Grinding and Centerless Grinding
Our surface grinding applications include top and bottom tight tolerance grinding. We can perform surface grinding to 36" by 48". The Blanchard grinder can handle material up to 60" corner to corner. Our centerless grinding machines can precision grind parts up to 4.5" diameter by 48" long.
Machining Support Services
With our existing full-service machine shop, we have been repairing bores and journals of used rollers as well as complete new core construction. We dynamically balance new or used rollers so they will run more smoothly and efficiently in your machines. We also provide roller coatings from rubber, plasma ceramic, tungsten carbide, and chrome plating. We are the best roller makers in the world and the complete single source for all of your roller needs.
