Roller Reverse Engineering

Rubber Roller Reverse Engineering

When original prints are lost, damaged, or never created in the first place, production doesn't have to stop. Rol-Tec provides rubber roller reverse engineering services that allow us to recreate your rollers, mandrels, sleeves, and molded parts from an existing sample. We measure, analyze, and document every critical dimension of your supplied part so we can produce an accurate replacement or generate a new print for future orders.

Since 1991, we've built our Green Bay, WI facility into one of the most complete roller manufacturing operations in the country. Every step of our reverse engineering process happens in-house, from initial measurement and material analysis to core fabrication, elastomer covering, and final quality verification with our laser measuring profiler.

How Our Roller Reverse Engineering Services Work

Our team begins by inspecting your existing roller, part, or worn component. We measure the core geometry, cover thickness, crown profile, groove patterns, and journal dimensions. We also test the original elastomer to identify the compound and durometer so the replacement performs to the same standard as the original.

From that analysis, we produce a detailed engineering drawing that serves as the blueprint for manufacturing. If the original core is beyond repair, we machine a new one in our full-service machine shop. If the core is still usable, we can strip and re-cover it with a fresh elastomer. We also manufacture molds for reverse-engineered molded parts when casting is required.

This process works whether we're evaluating the part at our facility or performing on-site measurement at yours.

Materials We Reverse Engineer

We reverse engineer rollers and molded components across our full range of elastomer compounds. This includes urethane, Hypalon, neoprene, hydrogenated nitrile, carboxylated nitrile, EPDM, natural rubber, silicone, and specialty blends developed for specific performance requirements. Each compound is selected based on the operating conditions of your application, including temperature, chemical exposure, abrasion, and surface finish needs.

Whether your roller was originally built for solvent resistance on an automotive paint line, food-grade compliance in a packaging operation, or precision ink transfer in flexographic printing, we match the material to your process.

Why Manufacturers Trust Rol-Tec for Reverse Engineering

Because we control every stage of production internally, there is no need to subcontract any part of your order to an outside vendor. Our facility includes precision CNC machining, dynamic roll balancing, roll grinding, laser engraving, and plasma coating capabilities alongside our rubber covering and urethane molding operations. That means faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and a single point of contact from start to finish.

We work with manufacturers in printing, packaging, textiles, food processing, steel and metals, automotive, electronics, agriculture, mining, and medical industries. If your operation depends on a roller that's out of production or undocumented, we can bring it back to spec. Contact us or call 1-800-497-4950 to get started.
